If you havenât seen them yet, the cherry blossoms in the Lexington Cemetery are in full bloom. The grounds are open daily from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. for you to visit these beautiful trees.
This is easily one of prettiest spring spots in the city + and that got us thinking â âWhere are some other places to experience spring blooms + wildflowers?â

Hisle Farm Park, 3551 Briar Hill Rd. | This park features 280 acres of rolling hills + pastures. There are two trail options â a one-mile and 2.5-mile trail.
Flora: goldenrod, milkweed + Queen Anneâs lace
Pro tip: There isnât much shade on these open pasture trails. It is best to hike in early-mid spring.

Raven Run Nature Sanctuary, 3885 Raven Run Wy. | Raven Run is the hiking gem of Fayette County, boasting 10 miles of hiking trails across 734 acres.
Flora: If heading out for wildflower viewings, look to hike the Yellow Trail â also known as the flower bowl. Be on the lookout for blue-eyed Mary, trillium, lilies + wild hyacinth.
Pro tip: This place can get busy + the parking lot can fill up. Join this Facebook group for park updates.

- Bourbon nâ Toulouse â a beloved creole restaurant in the Chevy Chase neighborhood â opened its second location this week at 1080 S. Broadway, behind First Watch. The restaurant is open for lunch only + will operate on a limited menu for the time being.
- Red River Gorgeâs Gladie Visitor Center is reopening this weekend after undergoing renovations. To celebrate, the visitor center is hosting a party on both Saturday + Sunday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Enjoy appearances from Smokey the Bear, live music, educational programming, and more. đ (WTVQ)

Traffic
- A redesign has been proposed for the Richmond Road + Athens/Boonesboro Road corridor that would eliminate u-turns. You can preview the proposed project with this interactive map and public comment lasts until Sat., April 30. If approved, construction would begin in March of 2023. (WKYT)

- The 2022 Lexington Summit is a first-of-its-kind event thatâs taking place next Thursday + Friday, April 7-8. At the event, a non-partisan forum will host community leaders as they speak on local and national issues. A digital pass is free with registration. (UK NOW)
Coming Soon
- A Pittsburgh-based Italian restaurant called Vallozziâs plans on opening in Versailles at 108 Court St., right by the Amsden Bourbon Bar. The ownerâs goal is to open in time for the Breedersâ Cup Races at Keeneland, November 4-5. This will be the first Vallozzi's location outside of Pennsylvania. đœ (Lexington Herald-Leader)

- Hot diggity dog. Boonedogâs released a series of new menu items for its updated spring menu. These include â new hot dog offerings, a shareable sausage platter, new side items + desserts. Swing by 5902 Old Richmond Rd. to sample its new offerings and enjoy its fantastic outdoor dining space. đ
Feel Good
- A compassionate + anonymous citizen funded the repair of the Catholic Action Centerâs Compassionate Caravan. The van was recently burglarized â having its catalytic converter stolen. Not cool. The centerâs van delivers cold weather items + offers rides to shelters for those experiencing homelessness. (LEX18)
History
- Yesterday â March 30 â marked the 55th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jrâs march from Memorial Coliseum to downtown Lexington. Dr. King traveled to Lexington in 1967 once he heard that picketers were being arrested. He is quoted saying, âWe arenât going to achieve our freedom sitting around waiting for it.â (Localtonian)
