Semi-private training session at LiveWELL Training Club

Hey, LEX — Molly here. 👋 I’ve been a Peloton addict for over a year now, but one thing I’ve been missing is the community feel that comes with working out in person. Now that we’re in the season of summer dresses + shoulders showing, I was thrilled to have my first personal training experience at LiveWELL Training Club.

What we tried (with pricing): 

Co-owner and trainer Keaton Jones led my semi-private training session. I had a customized workout made especially for me based on my goals + current fitness level. The specialized plan can be scheduled at your leisure, with plans ranging from one training session per week at $160 per month to four training sessions per week (that’s 16 per month) for $420. 

Bonus: There are no sign-up, freeze, or cancellation fees + no minimum commitment.  

I’m a yogi, so lifting weights is not exactly my strong suit. And honestly, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous about pumping some iron with some strangers. But I was in great hands and company — I couldn’t have felt more welcome and supported at LiveWELL.*

Development

• The R.J. Corman Railroad company will see improvements thanks to a new $12 million project, over half of which is being funded by a federal grant. Switch replacements, rehabilitated track, and the paving of traffic areas will help more industries bring material into the city. 🚂 (WEKU) 

Civic

• The largest city budget in Lexington’s history, $473 million, was recently approved and CivicLex is hosting a special city budget workshop to teach citizens more about how the budgeting process works. The interactive workshop is tonight at 6 p.m. at the Pam Miller Downtown Arts Center, 141 E. Main St. 💰 (CivicLex)

Outdoors

• Bluegrass Greensource is hosting the Second Annual KY RiverFest on Sun., July 10 from 9-12 p.m. on the Kentucky River next to Proud Mary’s BBQ, 9079 Old Richmond Rd. Citizens are invited to test out different paddle crafts + learn about different outdoor and environmental organizations in the area. 🛶

• Eckert’s Orchard announced that both blackberries + peaches are in season and available for picking. A field access pass is required for anyone two-years of age or older and you can snag that here. The farm is open Tuesday-Sunday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and is located at 1396 Pinckard Pike, Versailles.

Environment

• Lexington’s Division of Water Quality is inviting local businesses, nonprofits + schools to apply for grants if they have stormwater project ideas — stream restoration, rain gardens, constructed wetlands, etc. Any organization or business that pays the Water Quality Management Fee in Fayette County is eligible to apply.

Eat

• The Beaumont Inn, a 100+ year old family-owned restaurant in Harrodsburg, has been sold — but it will remain in the family. A cousin of the family has officially taken over ownership of the hotel and restaurant, and plans to make updates while keeping the award-winning dining menu the same. (Lexington Herald-Leader)

• $125 million. That’s how much the Jif peanut butter recall could cost parent company J.M. Smucker. In May, 50 different peanut butter products were recalled due to a salmonella outbreak and the Lexington-based Jif plant was where most of those products were made. 🥜 (Lexington Herald-Leader)
