Opening
- Tilty Bob’s — an arcade bar + restaurant from the owners of Louisville’s Recbar502 — is set to open at the old Napa Prime spot in January 2022. Tilty Bob’s will offer arcade games such as Centipede, Donkey Kong, and Mario Bros. The menu will feature burgers, pub food, and shareables. (Lexington Herald-Leader)
UK
- UK men’s basketball released single-game tickets for the first 9 home games yesterday. All tickets can be purchased through TicketMaster. Single-game tickets for the remaining 11 home games + key matchups — Louisville, High Point, and SEC games — will be released in November. (UK Athletics)
Development
- Plans for a new restaurant at 2891 Richmond Rd. have progressed after the planning commission approved the removal of some unhealthy trees. The original vote was postponed in September to assess the likelihood of saving the 70-ft Pin Oak in front of the Sunshine Grow Shop. (Lexington Herald-Leader)
Biz
- Burlington Coat Factory has closed its Richmond Rd. location + will open a new store at the former Adrenaline Entertainment Center in Hamburg Pavilion. They are still hiring + are scheduled to open on Fri., Oct. 29. (Lexington Herald-Leader)
Civic
- Lexington will host a drug disposal event on Sat., Oct. 23 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Kentucky American Water. Representatives will be on hand to collect + safely dispose of prescription and over-the-counter pills. The event is being held in recognition of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. (WTVQ)
Arts
- A new mural in Duncan Park — featuring the late non-violence activist Anita Franklin — was unveiled this weekend. Franklin organized peace walks in the area in memory of her son, Antonio Franklin. The mural was painted in their memory + honor by Keaton Young. (WKYT)
Community
- Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention Coalition and GreenHouse17 are asking Lexington residents to participate in Purple Thursday on Thurs., Oct. 21. Community members can wear purple to show support + raise awareness for domestic violence survivors in Lexington. (City of Lexington)
Edu
- Centre College inaugurated Dr. Milton C. Moreland as the 21st president of the school. He took office in July 2020 but the ceremony had to be postponed. His goals are to help expand Centre College’s study abroad + internship programs. (The Lane Report)
