Hello Tuesday.
April 23 2024
Ah, fall in the Bluegrass — that special time of year when you wear a jacket in the morning + by 2 p.m. your car temperature reads 80º. Kentucky sweater weather, right?
That also means it’s peak season for all things pumpkin. That’s why we’re bringing you our guide on where to pick + peek to get your pumpkin fix.
Where to pick
Evan’s Orchard and Cider Mill | 198 Stone Rd., Georgetown
This 5th generation family farm is free to the public. But the real fun kicks in when you purchase tickets to the family fun zone which features a play area, barnyard, hayride, corn maze + mega slide.
Eckert’s Orchard | 1396 Pinckard Pk., Versailles
Eckert’s orchard is a 60-acre farm with tons of pick-your-own fun options — a 3 story treehouse, gem mining + a country store to name a few. Pumpkin pricing starts at .69¢ per lb.
Pro tip: Come for the pumpkins, but don’t forget to try an apple donut.
Where to peek
Transylvania University’s PumpkinMania | Oct. 25-28
Back for its 11th year — 500 carved pumpkins will be on display on the steps of Old Morrison at Transylvania University.
Pro tip: The whole family can join the fun by attending their family-friendly pumpkin carving event on Oct. 24 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Your family’s pumpkin could then be on display in downtown Lexington.
McConnell Springs Jack-O-Lantern Trail | Oct. 27-30
Hike through McConnell Springs Park with hundreds of hand-carved pumpkins on display. The event also features campfires, s’mores + live owls from their program, Critters in the Classroom.
Pro tip: Lexington Parks & Recreation is asking residents to donate carved pumpkins to add a spark + fill the park. Donate your family’s pumpkin art by submitting a Pumpkin Pledge.
