The United Soccer League announced that Lexington is the newest city to receive a USL League One expansion club. We’re essentially giving you a free kick + breaking down names, places, and the details you need to know about Lexington’s first professional soccer team.
League | USL League One
USL League One launched in the spring of 2019 + is the third division created by the United Soccer League.
Name | Lexington Pro Soccer
Owner | The majority owner of Lexington Pro Soccer is Tower Hill Sports, founded by Bill Shively.
Season | 2023
USL League One regular season play involves 12 teams playing 28 games over 30 weeks + concludes Oct. 30 with 6 teams qualifying for the playoffs.
Tickets | 2023 ticket deposits are $25+
Field Location | The opening season will begin at a local collegiate facility. Details about which facility will be released in the coming weeks.
Future Location | Lexington Soccer League plans to respond to the RFP for the High Street Development Project.
The proposed venue would be able to accommodate festivals, concerts + other events. The club also plans to explore multiple locations in Fayette County that could become the site of the club’s training grounds and USL Academy program.
Brand + Crest | Lexington Pro Soccer will conduct multiple focus groups, town hall sessions + workshops to gather ideas from the Lexington community. Take the team’s survey to share your input.

- The Lexington-Fayette County Health Dept. will be administering free Flu shots all season long. Shots will be available every Monday, Wednesday + Friday by same-day appointment only at their Public Health Clinic, 650 Newtown Pk.
- The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government is exploring a $250,000 program that would help recruit more healthcare workers to Lexington. The ‘Accelerate Lexington’ program would provide CNA training to 30 individuals. (LEX18)

- A new healthy restaurant option is opening near campus in late October. Pita Pit specializes in healthy and customizable pita sandwiches + will be setting up shop at 543 S. Limestone. (Lexington Herald-Leader)
Theater
- The Lexington Theatre Company is now holding online auditions for its 2022 season — making it possible for any Lexingtonian to audition from anywhere. Audition materials must be received by Fri., Nov. 12. (WTVQ)
Edu
- UK College of Agriculture, Food and Environment will be hosting a new agricultural event that hopes to showcase little-known professions to underrepresented high school students. The ‘Ag is for All’ conference will take place on Tues. Oct. 26 at 9 a.m. on campus. (UKNews)

- The Lexington Public Library’s book sale starts Fri., Oct. 8 + continues through Wed., Oct. 20. Funds raised benefit the public library system.

- The last free trash disposal day of 2021 will take place on Sat., Oct. 9 from 6 a.m.-1 p.m. at Bluegrass Regional Transfer Station. All loads must be in a standard truck bed.
